What Are We Learning This Quarter? Our fourth quarter Kindergarten theme is Wonders of Nature.
Writing: This quarter we are working on writing informative text, research writing, narratives, publishing and opinions. We are publishing our writing through the SmartBoard, iPads and computer. We are working on spelling sight words correctly as well as tapping out and spelling our words.
Language Arts: This quarter we will continue to work on reading both literature and informational text. We will work on retelling stories, identifying the main idea of a story, comparing and contrasting informational text, reasons an author writes information, comparing and contrasting adventures and the relationship between the illustration and text. Some topics we will be reading about are: Spring, desert, ants, butterflies, camping, space, plants and ladybugs.
Math: This quarter we will really be focusing on addition and subtraction with some measurement. Students will be fluent in subtraction and addition facts through 5. We will continue to practice place value.
Social Studies: We will be discussing the difference between wants and needs. Identify resources as renewable, reusable and recyclable.
Science: We will be learning about magnet, animals and plants in AZ, life cycles of butterflies, ant farm investigation, as well as living and non living objects. ***There are weekly character meetings to focus on showing good character as well as to discuss bullying.
