Frequently Asked Questions
- I have created a FAQ section. If for some reason you
question is not answered here, please e-mail me, call
me or ask me when you drop off or pick up your child.
Can I volunteer whenever I want in my child's class?
You will be recieving a sign-in sheet every month to sign-up for the date you are available to come in. Please make sure that you have filled out a volunteer packet from the office and have a valid background check. Once you have been approved you can come in at your assigned time, as long as your child does not
become affected by it. We also do not have volunteers in the classroom until September. This allows us to get our rules and routines down and have the kids comfortable with us.
How else can I help at school?
You can sign up as a Art Materpiece volunteer. You do not have to be artistic. All the ideas and materials are provided for you. If you are interested contact the office and they will send you in the right direction. This doesn't start till around December.
Do I have to attend Parent Teacher Conferences?
Yes, at PEC we have 4 face to face Parent-Teacher Conferences a year. During that time we create an ILP, (individual learning plan), you have to attend and sign the form.
Does my child need snacks or waterbottles at school?
Yes! Your child needs to bring a waterbottle filled only with water each day. They also need a healty snack for afternoon snack, teachers do not proved snacks. Please do not send in candy or messy items for snack. Good suggestions are crackers, granola bars, an apple, grapes, cookies.
What are the school hours?
School begins by 8am. However students are allowed in as early as 7:40 am. Attendance is sent in by 8:05, so if you are running late you have to drop by the office and get a late pass. If students arrive after the morning announcements begin, they will be marked tardy.
What should my child bring each day?
A backpack, with their name clearly labeled on it, a lunch box, or lunch money, snack and a waterbottle, and their Take home folder.
How do I know how my child is doing on a daily basis?
Your child will be taking home a "Daily Take Home Folder". In their folder will be a behavior calendar. I will be using this calendar to communicate behavior to you each day. Green means great, yellow means had a warning, orange means had several reminders and had a time out, red means their behavior was severe and had a long time out or sent out of the room. (There will be a note or phone call for this behavior). They also can earn purple. Which means they have been better than green. They might have helped a freind tie their shoe or picked up a friend if they fell down.
